Capital Campaign Logo Proudly serving the homeless and neglected animals of Harris County since 1991 by
  • Sheltering and adopting 192 animals in 2009 without benefit of any permanent facility
  • Establishing new policies to heartworm test all dogs, FeLV/FIV test all cats and to microchip all animals in our care.
  • Improving screening and adoption follow up procedures to ensure the best homes possible for all our animals and reduce adoption returns
Since November 2007 we have begun the following initiatives:
  • Therapy Dog Program — CARL's Crew (Caring Animals Renewing Life) now has 8 Delta Society registered Pet Partner Teams who will be visiting libraries, nursing homes and schools throughout the area in 2010.
  • Pet Food Pantry — over 1,100 pounds of pet food was collected in 2009 for seniors and shut-ins who so depend on the companionship of their pets yet are finding it financially more difficult to support them. Food is distributed through a partnership with Harris County Meals-On-Wheels.
  • Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Fund — 15 feral cats from various areas of Harris County were trapped, neutered and released during 2009. Our goal is to increase this number to 60 cats in 2010.
  • "Tag You’re It!" — a public service program to encourage proper identification of all pets in the county
  • Obedience Classes — a regular schedule of obedience classes for pet owners to improve relationships and decrease the number of dogs surrendered for behavior issues
