Our Adoption Process

Adopting a pet is a wonderful way to save two lives: the life of the pet you adopt, and the life of the pet you make room for to be saved.

Each animal in Humane Society of Harris County’s care goes through a complete health evaluation including spaying or neutering, vaccination and micro chipping. During its stay at our facility it receives regular maintenance care such as heartworm and flea preventative, grooming and of course feeding.

If you are interested in adopting a pet, here is all you have to do:

View our dogs View our cats

Pick out the dog or cat you are interested in adopting and note the pet’s name
Contact the shelter at our phone number below or email us
Please remember the pet’s name and breed and include it in your description
You can visit with the pet you are interested in at our adoption locations or you can make an appointment to visit with us in Harris County. At that time you will complete an adoption application and we will discuss the adoption program with you further so that you may make an informed decision.
